Plug your phone into your Mac Book Air, open iphoto (it should open automatically) and select 'import Photos'.
IF that doesn't work (which it should), keep phone plugged into laptop and open iTunes. On left hand side, select iPhone- photos- and copy into iPhoto.
Once pix are in iPhoto, just copy them onto a usb drive. Easy.
